POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. ” Norkus Enterprises here, operator of seven Foodtown supermarkets, has completed the fourth of six installations of Solyndra solar photovoltaic rooftop systems from Solis Partners, Manasquan, N.J.
The systems consist of approximately 2,700 Solyndra solar panels, producing over 600,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and eliminating more than 820,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
“We are extremely proud to be at the forefront of this growing technology,” said Mark Norkus, vice president of Norkus Enterprises. “Over the past year, we studied our use of electricity throughout our six Foodtown locations and worked with Solis to develop the best method to becoming a more environmentally friendly company. We are very pleased with the results.”
